Feel the mood of a good night

Cocktail Room is one of the few places in Zakopane with such a carefully selected range of spirits and drinks. This two-level space with comfortable tables sits at ul. Zaruskiego 5, in the centre of town, 300 metres from Krupówki. On Fridays and Saturdays we open at 21:30 and stay open until 4:00 in the morning, and on Thursdays and Sundays from 21:00 to 2:00.

The menu is split into two parts. Alternatives Vol. 2 is twelve drinks where classics meet variations: Pornstar Martini and the sharper Pornstar Scandal, Side Car and Aki Cocktail on Hennessy VS, Negroni and Cocoa Negroni, Singapore Sling, Cherry & Caffe, Paloma, Jungle Bird, Espresso Martini and Tequila Cafe Tonic. Tiki Prelude is six drinks in a tiki mood, including Golden Rift, Coconut Tide, Mango Current, Banana Banana and the plum brandy based Halny Ritual. We also run five zero per cent cocktails separately. Beyond the menu stands a full shelf of spirits: gin, rum, vodka, American whiskey, single malt scotch, blended whisky, aperitifs, prosecco and white and red wines.

The bartenders do not limit themselves to the menu. Simply say which flavours you like or which spirit the drink should be based on, and you will get something made on the spot, for you. It is one of the things we are known for in Zakopane, and the reason many guests come back regularly. We also run a full alcohol-free menu, so nobody at the table has to feel left out.

The layout of the room was designed so that people can talk. The music plays in the background, not from the dance floor, the tables are arranged on two levels, and the distance between them keeps a conversation private. It is a good place for an evening less formal than dinner at a restaurant and calmer than a full night out, for a meeting of a few people or for the start of a longer night.

Cocktail Room is sometimes called the antechamber of Music Loft, and at the weekend it really works that way. On Fridays and Saturdays we open together with the club at 21:30, so many guests start the evening at the bar and move to the dance floor after midnight without leaving the building. On Thursdays and Sundays we work on our own, from 21:00 to 2:00, and that is when it is calmest here. You can also stay with us until closing if that evening you care more about conversation than dancing.

At weekends and in the winter season it is worth doing so in advance, because this part of the club fills up faster than the dance floor itself. A smart casual dress code and door selection apply.

We approach cocktails as a craft. What counts is the quality of the base, fresh additions and proportions, not a spectacular presentation in itself. That is why the menu puts classics that cannot be made by cutting corners next to more contemporary creations built on infusions and homemade syrups. The bartenders work fast even with a full room, which is not obvious given weekend traffic in Zakopane.

Cocktail Room works well for groups of several to a dozen or so people. Comfortable tables on two levels let you sit together instead of scattering the group around the room, and waiter service means nobody has to queue at the bar with an order for everyone. It is a frequent choice for birthdays, hen nights and company meetings that are not yet a full-blown party.

The menu changes with the seasons, because different flavours work in winter and in summer. In the colder months we reach more often for whisky and rum drinks, warmer spices and drinks served hot. In spring and summer, gin, citrus and sparkling wines take over. The fixed points of the menu, such as Negroni or Espresso Martini, stay all year round, because you order them whatever the weather outside.
